The Socialist

Every age seeks visionaries to leave, in the wake of their genius, a changed world – but rarely are they found without a few strikeout also-rans getting a crack first. In 2008, millions of Americans thought they had found the real thing.

Over the subsequent two years the nation moved inexorably – though rarely without battle – toward European-style socialism. Through the warring perspectives of a few powerful, deluded men and women who claim to know what’s best for you, we reached a national drama rife with both bureaucracy-creation and wealth destruction.

The Socialist moved from the halls of academia to the offices of ACORN to a pew in Chicago, and eventually all the way to the oval office, all the while spurred on by the heady early days of a culture-changing phenomenon in the making. In the midst of the chaos and mounting disasters, average American citizens began to object, eventually adding up to more than the sum of their parts in what has become a multi-front, 21st century clash of worldviews.

This film has not yet been rated, but the story received a solid B+ from the White House. Catch the beginning of the end in theaters November 2010, with the ultimate conclusion to be seen worldwide in November of 2012.

That video is MAGNIFICENT. Funny and depressing and as accurate as I’ve ever seen. Please do more! And let’s there’s an avalanche of similar videos in 2012!

Where is the video complaining about the excessive spending under Bush? Hmm

    • benhoweblog says:

I’m concerned about massive spending no matter who’s in office. I was furious about TARP under Bush and I’ve been working hard to get the old school republicans fired because they are just as bad. I just happened to not make videos like this 2 yrs ago.

I may want the republicans to win over the democrats but you are the one who’s blinded by partisanship.

Anyone who asks this is not serious. Bush’s spending is small potatoes compared to this administration’s spending. Bush, with 9/11, serious difficulty in the stock market afterward, many natural disasters, and finally a democratic congress, still only had deficits of a maybe two hundred billion a year and that number was coming down until September of 2008.
Obama and company have already spent in less than two years more than all presidents before him, from Washington on, added together, up until recently.
For the left to complain about the Bush spending and not notice this administration’s irresponsibility is nonsense.
Obama always talks about inheriting the worst blah blah blah…
Under Bush the market reached new highs. The market has not yet even gone back to where it was three years ago. The unemployment was under 5% most of the time under Bush. No inflation and low interest rates. Compare this to what Reagan inherited under Carter.
Only in the last four months of the Bush administration with the mortgage crisis, (caused by democrats – Acorn and fannie and freddie), did things get bad. Still unemployment when Obama took over was only 7%. Obama would be bragging if unemployment went down to 7% again, even though that would be over two points higher than the average unemployment under Bush. There was no inflation and interest rates were low. Tarp by now has been totally repaid, but Obama and company have spent it all. It is ridiculous for Obama to say he inherited the worst mess.
This is the most irresponsible administration in my lifetime.

You said it just like it is…. I think maybe Savage is right!? “Liberalism IS a mental disorder”. It is the unwillingness to face facts. To live in a fantasy world where we all hold hands and skip around merrily. With that mind set, how can there be anything wrong with socialism? As if are lives lasted forever, and we had endless time to save and build to insure the next generation had a better life. While government takes more and of our lifes fruit through taxation, regulation and control. Socialism does not respect the individual, and this country IS built from Christian ideals. Which is why we have been fighting against the likes of obama since this great nation was conceived. obama is spitting on my heritage, walking on the graves of men like Washington and Lincoln when he disrespects our constitution. I feel like there is a spoiled brat running my great country! I only hope it is not to late!

The marked reached new hights because Bush didn’t do anyhing. The result was of course the crash of the marked. Why is it that you didn’t learn anything from the last couple of years? When the marked is skyrocketing, it has to stop some time, and when it does, we have seen the results. A president needs to actually do something to prevent things like that, not just sit back and relax…

You left out 2 wars, bush tax cuts and part d Medicare plan all unfunded, short memory?

        • benhoweblog says:

Well howdy person commenting on a 2 year old thread! As has been stated here and elsewhere countless times, Bush’s spending is detrimental as well. We voted out the big spending republicans in 2006 and many of us are saddened to see that the current lineup of GOP candidates don’t present themselves as being any better on spending. His spending was a disaster for our country.

However, this video is about Obama. So your straw man holds little sway here.

Nice work Ben. The Socialist and The Last Best Hope are both excellent. I got chills.

So captivating and powerful… and yet so depressing.
Having not voted for Obama, I can only wonder what someone who did… feels when they watch this video. I wonder if they can watch all of it… or if they click it off in a huff once they realize it’s talking about them. I know that at least some of them have the courage and humility to say yeah… I was an idiot, but I wonder what it will take for others to realize the truth. What happens when one follows their blind faith to the end when it’s too late to reverse course, and they find themselves on their knees with a communist pistol pointed at their heads? Will they realize their folly then?

  15. Hi

Probably one of the best political videos I have seen in a long time. Its actually very sad to see the hopes of so many Americans destroyed.

    FIRE PELOSI!

  16. Bonnie says:

What does this video have to do with socialism? All those pics of foreclosure signs? You do know that those are a result of faults in capitalism that allow the rich to feed gluttonously off the middle class, right? And the reason this administration was forced to spend so damn much was to keep some of those people from immediately being homeless… in which case we’d all be paying for their housing and health care?
Maybe if we spent less on our exorbitant defense budget and our futile attempts at “nation building” we’d have more to spend on useful things…like education. People should learn about the history of political parties and movements, not just be fed propaganda from any side.
“Socialism” proper does not exist in America. Never has. Never will.
I’m not a fan of parts of either of the parties that do exist here, but I DO know that reelecting the party that got us into this mess in the first place–and supporting their hyperbolic arguments against non-existent threats–is the wrong way to go.

  17. Tommy says:

What is sting with moving towards the european way of doing thongs, when things work so well here?
